No Railroad In Our Communities

Eminent Domain: The Legal Disguise of Injustice

For centuries, Black land ownership has symbolized freedom and future. But across the U.S., that land has been quietly taken—under court orders, through backdoor deals, and beneath the weight of “public good.”

Sparta’s current battle isn’t new. It’s the latest chapter in a long, shameful history. From highways bulldozing Black neighborhoods in the 1960s to pipelines cutting through tribal lands, eminent domain has rarely been neutral. It has served the powerful and displaced the vulnerable.

The Sandersville Railroad’s pursuit of Sparta’s land is another example: a private company cloaking profit in the language of public service. But make no mistake—this isn’t for the public. It’s for corporations.

Our resistance today shapes the landscape for future generations. Will we allow another Black community to be erased? Or will we draw the line in Sparta?

This isn’t just about Sparta. It’s about stopping a dangerous precedent. It’s about justice, finally served.
